Charlotte Tilbury | Nocturnal Cat Eyes To Hypnotise
I've only just started to dip my toes in the Charlotte Tilbury pond and if truth be told, I have mixed feelings about the much-loved brand.
Recoil in horror if you will but I was sorely disappointed with her face creams (you can read my review here) and I'm very much underwhelmed with her Wonder Glow primer. It's okay, nothing spectacular, although I do have much love for her Matte Revolution lipstick (review) and I've heard positive things about her Magic Foundation.
The set has a purple theme to it. The eye shadow looks almost burgundy in the pan but swatches a cool taupe brown with plum and gold flecks running through it. It gives off a beautiful purple sheen which unfortunately, doesn't translate as well on the eye. Instead, when on the lids it blends out to a more cool grey-toned, pencil lead-esque shadow that lacks any real lustre. Under artificial lights, the sparkle does pull through more than in natural light but there's nothing special about it. That being said, it does perform well. It has nice pigmentation, blends well and lasts on the lids but for me, it's not a show-stopper. I just wish it would apply as well as it swatches.
As for the liner, I've heard mixed reviews about these with some people really disliking them. I found my liner to be okay. In some lighting it can look almost black but when it catches you can see that it has a lot of purple glitter running through it. It's a really pretty colour and unlike the shadow, does translate well on the lids. The downside here is that the formula of the pencil itself is nothing spectacular. I think it's very average. It's fairly creamy but not overly so and the glitter can come across as ever so slightly chunky with some migration of particles throughout the day. It's not completely smudge-proof but does wear well on me for a number of hours. With the full size Rock 'N' Kohl eye pencil retailing for just over £15 in the UK, I'd say that unless there was a shade that you simply must have, I'd spend my money else where.
Have you tried any eye products from Charlotte Tilbury or have you tried either of the products I mentioned here today? What are your thoughts? Are you a Charlotte Tilbury fan?
